Geert Wilders’ Incitement Trial Begins Again
From the BBC: The head of the Dutch Freedom Party, Geert Wilders, is standing trial for incitement after he queried supporters at a 2014 meeting if they wanted to limit the number of Moroccans in the country. His attorneys had tried to have the charges dismissed by telling the presiding judge that moving forward with the trial is essentially a political examination of his party’s views.
The trial began again Friday after having been halted in 2014. Mr. Wilders responded to the restart by tweeting in part, “Prosecuted for what millions think.” More here from The Washington Post.
