Austrian Publisher Loses Bid To Trademark White Pages

The European Union’s Court of First Instance has upheld the EU’s design and trademark office’s decision to deny the Austrian publisher Telefon & Buch Verlagsgesellschaft the right to trademark the phrase “Weisse Seiten” (White Pages), saying it no longer has a specific enough meaning.
