Egyptian Parliament Passes New Legislation Aimed At Media
Aljazeera.Net reports on the new law just passed by the Egyptian Parliament that modifies to some extent the law of libel that has been used against journalists who criticize official conduct. But the press and some opposition leaders complain that the new law is still harsh, saying reporters can still be sent to jail for “insulting” the president and other members of the government.
