Cornell Offers Guidance to Faculty in Placing Copyrighted Materials on Electronic Reserve
Cornell University has developed a checklist to assist its faculty in negotiating the problems inherent in placing copyrighted electronic materials on reserve. The guidelines are here on Cornell’s website along with a memo from Cornell’s Provost explaining the reasons for the checklist’s existence: concerns over copyright infringement and, in the words of the Provost, “[r]espect of the intellectual property of others” which is “a cornerstone of academic integrity”. An article in today’s Chronicle of Higher Education discusses the Cornell policy (subscription may be required).
