Furor Over AutoAdmit Continues
The outrage over the discussion board “AutoAdmit”, founded by Anthony Ciolli, a University of Pennsylvania law student and Jarret Cohen, an insurance salesman, has hit the Chronicle of Higher Education (subscription required). AutoAdmit is a discussion board that allows students to opine on all sorts of issues, including college and law school. Some individuals allege that some of the postings are defamatory and racist, and that such postings have cost them job offers after potential employers Googled them and found mention of them on the board. See a Washington Post article about the situation here.
Harold Koh, dean of the Yale Law School, has denounced postings that have appeared on the board, and Geoffrey Hazard, a faculty member at Penn, has suggested Mr. Ciolli should remove defamatory and offensive postings. Certainly potential employers will Google him–and find mention of the Autoadmit
