FCC Chair Advocates Loosening Rules on Ownership, Maybe By the End of Year
FCC Chair Kevin J. Martin is actively pushing a plan to allow same company ownership of newspapers and tv or radio stations in the same market, and he would like to put this plan into operation by the end of 2007. To do so, he would have to have the support of a majority of his fellow FCC Commissioners. He has also faced concerns from some lawmakers, and setbacks in the courts.
