The Virginian-Pilot reports that a Regent University Law School student whom the university suspended last month has now sued Regent University and President Pat Robertson for defamation and violation of his First Amendment rights. Adam Key, a 2L at the school, selected a clip from a recent YouTube video of Robertson, and posted it on his Facebook page. The university objected to the clip, which suggests that the reverend is making an obscene gesture, and asked Mr. Key to apologize or defend his use of the clip. After he refused, the university suspended him “pending a mental health evaluation.” Mr. Key requests damages and a letter of good standing from the school.
