French Broadcasters Go On Strike

In protest over the French President’s plan to pull advertising from state run television, the employees at public tv and radio are planning a massive strike today. President Sarkozy has his eye on raising the level of quality tv, but supporters of the present model say he wants to assist his friends, notably the owner of TF1, who stand to gain from the shift of advertising to commercial broadcasting.
