Media Apologize, Pay Damages To Robert Murat Over Allegations in McCann Disappearance
Robert Murat, the “person of interest” identified in the Madeleine McCann disappearance has won a defamation settlement against four different media companies: News International, Mirror Group Newspapers, Express Newspapers and Associated Newspapers. The four are paying out 600,000 pounds in damages and publishing apologies to Mr. Murat, who has never been charged in Maddie’s disappearance. The little girl vanished more than a year ago while she and her family were on vacation in Portugal. This settlement is the second involving media allegations over the case. The first involved the Express’s newspapers’ statements over Maddie’s parents’ involvement in her disappearance.
