An Oregon City’s Council Discusses Whether Bloggers Are Members of the Media

Lake Oswego, Oregon is trying to decide whether bloggers are members of the media. If so, they can attend executive sessions of city council meetings. If not, they’re out. The issue has come up because Mark Bunster, who blogs at Loaded Orygun, has asked to attend these sessions as a member of the media, and Lake Oswego city council members were uncertain whether he met any applicable definition. They’re trying to create a definition of their own and adopt it, to clarify who may attend, but not report on, executive sessions. Read more about the controversy, and the proposed definition of media, here.

[Thanks to Mark Bunster for the tip].
