Burmese Court Sentences Blogger To Twenty Years; Sentences Poet to Two Years
A court in Myanmar sentenced a blogger to fifteen years in prison for violating the Electronics Law, and an additional 5 years for violating other laws including the Video Act. The blogger, Nay Phone Latt, was alone in court since his attorney was serving a sentence for contempt of court. The court also gave a poet, Saw Wai, two years for “concealing a message” in one of his works.
