PRC Government Allows Press to Report “Bad News”

Reuters reports that Beijing is allowing the Chinese press to report “bad news.” The thought seems to be that this approach will mitigate some of the negative effects of stories that spread through new communications technologies, such as the Internet, which the government has much more trouble controlling.
