“When’s Your Weather Guy Coming Back From Vacation?”
Here’s a report from the New York Times on the digital switchover. From the front: Albuquerque, New Mexico, estimated as one of the least-prepared areas of the nation, seems to be weathering the storm fairly well. A local station manager in the city says that so far it has logged relatively few calls, including one about the return of the “weather guy.” But in other areas of the country, other members of the public are making their concerns known as well. Those who can’t afford converter boxes to receive the new digital signals aren’t happy, and in areas of the country where digital signals will make reception of weather information problematic when the stations are off the air, such as in hurricane country, subscribers and station personnel are concerned.
