Fahrenheit 53095

Arguments over library book selection have led to requests that materials in the young adult section of the local public library in the town of West Bend, Wisconsin be moved out of that section to the adult part of the library by residents who are concerned about , a city just north of Milwaukee. Some residents there are upset about materials they think should not be included in the young adult section of the local library, and would like the books moved to the adult area of the library. Other residents think the materials are just fine where they are.

To be fair, the call for a book burning apparently comes not from a West Bend resident, but from someone who lives outside the city. He’s Robert Braun, who with three others, representing the Christian Civil Liberties Union, has now filed suit against West Bend. The plaintiffs want the right to burn a particular book, Francesca Lia Block’s Baby Be-Bop, which they claim has “damaged their mental and emotional well-being.” Read more here.
