German Appellate Court Reverses Lower Court Decision on English Language Nazi Slogan

The Federal Court of Justice (Germany) has ruled that the German law against printing Nazi slogans applies only to printing them in German. It overturned a lower court ruling against a defendant who was convicted of importing t-shirts with the Nazi slogan “Blut und Ehre” (Blood and Honor) written on them in English. Printing them in English distances them from the Nazi era, said the court. However, the courtremanded the case because the shirts also included the symbol C18, which refers to Combat 18 (referencing Adolf Hitler’s initials). Read more here and here.
