Michael Palin Still Upset Over BBC Trust Criticism Of Show

Pythonite Michael Palin is still angry over last year’s BBC Trust’s decision that his show “New Europe” “oversimplified” the issues it presented to its viewers. Said Mr. Palin to a Royal Television Society luncheon audience, “there was not the creative freedom within the BBC to make a programme like Monty Python today. ‘I think we would be looked at very carefully. There would be much more managerial interference, which there never was…We were allowed to get on with our show once they had agreed it. I just don’t think it would be the same nowadays and I think that is regrettable.'”  Read more in a Guardian article here.
