Barry George Wins Apology, Damages From News Group Newspapers

Barry George, released from prison in 2008 after being cleared in a retrial of the murder of BBC newscaster Jill Dando, has received legal fees and undisclosed payments as well as an apology from News Group Newspapers, which publishes the Sun and News of the World. The dispute had been headed for litigation over stories that Mr. George had stalked women and had killed Ms. Dando, who was murdered in 1999.
