Benjamin Hooks, Civil Rights Leader, Former FCC Commissioner, Dies
Civil rights activist and lawyer Benjamin Hooks has died. Dr. Hooks was 85. He served in the U.S. Army, led the NAACP, served as a judge, and became the first African American to be named an FCC Commissioner. FCC Chair Genachowski, Copps, McDowell, and Clyburn have issued statements eulogizing Dr. Hooks.
