Assistant state A.G. Andrew Shirvell has been fired from his post after a hearing, according to the Ann Arbor Daily News. The reasons: he used state resources during “his campaign against University of Michigan student body President Chris Armstrong” and he lied “to investigators during his disciplinary hearing” about his conduct. Anderson Cooper has been covering Mr. Shirvell’s conduct concerning Mr. Armstrong, including Mr. Shirvell’s blog devoted to Mr. Armstrong, for months. Mr. Shirvell maintains his speech concerning Mr. Armstrong is protected by the First Amendment. Mr. Armstrong and his lawyer are fighting back, asking the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission to disbar Mr. Shirvell.
