High drama on the Italian legislative floor this week as Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi escaped disaster, surviving a confidence vote by three yeas. Three pregnant women arrived to vote against him. Votes shifted one way, then the other. Accusations of vote buying flew around the chamber. Inside, plotters plotted, outside, protesters protested, and the police policed.
