French Court Finds Bronfman, Messier Guilty in Vivendi Case

Both Edgar Bronfman, Jr., chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group, and Jean-Marie Messier, formerly head of Vivendi, were convicted on various charges related to their activities at Vivendi during the late 1990s and early 2000s by a French court. Mr. Bronfman, who was at one time executive vice president of Vivendi Universal, received a fine and a suspended sentence for “conveying false or misleading information” about the company. Mr. Messier was convicted for misusing company funds. He also received a suspended sentence.
