Crown Prosecutors Unveil New Charges As Result of Phone Hacking Scandal
UK prosecutors have announced that they will charge Andy Coulson, formerly an editor at the News of the World, and then David Cameron’s communications director, and Rebekah Brooks, editor at the Sun, and then CEO of News International (until 2011), with various felonies stemming from the phone hacking scandal, an investigation of which has been unfolding over several years. Both Mr. Coulson and Ms. Brooks were already charged with other crimes earlier this year. Other NOTW and Sun journalists are also now facing charges. In addition, other individuals, including some government employees, will also be charged.
