Former News of the World Reporter To Try To Prohibit Broadcast of Program About His Activities

Reporter Mazher Mahmood, who assumed the fake identity of a sheikh while working at the now defunct News of the World in order to pursue stories, is reported to be ready to ask a court for an injunction to prohibit the BBC from broadcasting a documentary about his work and activities. The program is due to be shown on the the show Panorama.  Mr. Mahmood’s career began to unravel after information that he supplied about singer Tulisa Contostavlos, which resulted in her indictment for drug trafficking. The case against her collapsed in July of 2014 after the judge concluded that Mr. Mahmood had not been truthful with the court.
