Former Editor Being Prosecuted Under Indian Penal Code For Publication of Prophet Muhammed Cartoon
From the New York Times: news that Shirin Dalvi, the editor of the Urdu newspaper Avadhnama, is being prosecuted under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code for reprinting a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammed. The newspaper has since closed down. Ms. Dalvi is now out on bail. Ms. Dalviās lawyer says her freedom of speech is being abridged.
