Shutdowns, Other Methods, Used Against Internet Piracy Have Short-Lived Effects
What actually works against internet piracy isn’t clear, but what doesn’t work, according to a newly released paper by Luis Aguiar, Jörg Claussen, Christian Peukert of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre is an approved method: the takedown of infringing sites. According to the paper, such shutdowns result in a short-lived shift in consumer behavior.
