An Argentinian Author Is Charged With IP Theft For Remixing a Story By Borges
Argentine author Pablo Katchadjian is facing charges of “intellectual property fraud,” something that sounds like copyright infringement but with criminal sanctions, for remixing Jorge Luis Borges’ work “El Aleph.” Mr. Katchadjian told the court that he never intended to deceive anyone with his 2009 work, “El Alelph engordado.”
Discussion here (in Spanish); the accusation (by Mr. Borges’ widow) is that Mr. Katchadjian plagiarized the work and that the publisher published it without Mrs. Borges’ permission.
