Sean Penn Files Defamation Suit Against Lee Daniels Over Comparison To Terrence Howard

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Sean Penn has filed a defamation suit against “Empire”‘s Lee Daniels, alleging that a statement Mr. Daniels made to The Hollywood Reporter comparing Mr. Howard’s behavior toward women was comparable to Mr. Penn’s. According to THR,  Mr. Daniels seems to have been commenting on the domestic difficulties Mr. Howard is having with his third wife. 

According to THR, Mr. Daniels said in an interview: “That poor boy….[Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f—in’ demon [.] That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”

Mr. Penn is requesting $10 million in damages.
