Basque Magazine Reports Photographer Fined For Posting Photos Without Prior Government Permission
From ABC News: The Basque language magazine Argia has announced that the Spanish Interior Ministry has imposed a fine on an Argia photographer for posting photographs on social media in violation of a Spanish statute that forbids the publication of such material without prior permission from the government. The photos depict police in the act of arresting a woman. The photographer, Axier Lopez, and Argia say they will not pay the $680 fine. More here from the AP, via the Republic.
The law has been generally criticized by news media and human rights organizations have condemned since it was enacted proposed last year. More here about the law’s initial coming in the force from the EU Observer; here about the first fine levied under the law (coverage from The Telegraph).
