American Objects To Showing of Film, “The Magnitsky Act,” at Newseum
William Browder is attempting to prevent screenings of the film The Magnitsky Act at the Washington DC-based Newseum, alleging that the movie paints the subject, Sergei L. Magnitsky, as involved in criminal conspiracy rather than as a victim of human rights abuses. Screenings of the movie were cancelled in Europe after Mr. Browder’s law firm sent letters objecting to earlier events. Mr. Magnitsky was Mr. Browder’s attorney in Russia.
Representatives of the Newseum say the film’s showing will proceed.
