“It’s the First Amendment, Stupid”
A U.S. District Court Judge has issued a temporary restraining order in the case of Floridians Protecting Freedom v. Ladapo, in which the State of Florida, attempting to prevent the airing of Plaintiff’s television ads in favor of an amendment now on the ballot in Florida, has sent letters to some Florida television stations ordering them to take the ads off the air. Judge Mark E. Walker stated, “The issue here is whether the State can censor core political speech under the guise that the speech is false and implicates public health concerns.” Read more in this article from The Hill, which has a link to the order, which includes the very interesting line, “To keep it simple for the State of Florida: it’s the First Amendment, stupid.”
